I, too, am a ’Shropshire Lad’. I was raised and schooled in Oswestry,
Shropshire , educated in law at Reading University (LL.B), Manchester Metropolitan University (PGCE) and Liverpool John Moores University (LL.M) and practised at the Chancery Bar in
Liverpool for some 23 years before finally retiring in August 2006. I now teach in Higher Education on a full-time basis and have done so for the past 9 years, initially on the Bar Vocational Course at MMU, and latterly on under-graduate and post-graduate courses in law at LJMU. I am also one of the Bar Council’s external examiners for the BVC run by BPP in
London and
Leeds .
I have run many CPD courses for institutions such as BBP Professional Education and Central Law Training, all on Contentious Probate and Inheritance Family Provision. I also have a number of published articles and reported cases from practise at the Bar in these two related fields.
Outside work, I enjoy a game of golf, watch plenty of football, live on the Wirral and have a second home in the Vendee, France.
